Rabbi Dennis S. Ross is is the author of God in Our Relationships: Spirituality between People from the Teachings of Martin Buber, the first book to make clear, in a conversational voice, the I-Thou relationship. Rabbi Ross is director of Concerned Clergy for Choice for the Education Fund of  Family Planning Advocates of New York State, a thousand member multi-faith statewide network of religious leaders supporting access to reproductive health care services, sex education, stem cell research and marriage equality. He is a rabbi at Congregation Beth Emeth in Albany, New York. He speaks widely on spirituality, medical ethics and social justice.

Rabbi Ross has served synagogues in Chappaqua, N. Y., Washington, D.C., and Massachusetts. He received a B. A. in Psychology from Queens College of the City University of New York and an M. A. in Hebrew Literature from the Hebrew Union College - Jewish Institute of Religion in New York where he was ordained. Rabbi Ross earned the Master of Social Work degree from New York University and holds the Primary Certificate in Rational-Emotive Therapy from the Albert Ellis Institute. An honorary Doctor of Divinity degree awarded by Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion included recognition of his advocacy work for reproductive rights and stem cell research.

He has taught at the School of Education of Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, Manhattanville College and Williams College. He has taught bio-medical ethics at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He serves on the Clergy Advisory Board of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America.

He has written for The New York Times, The Boston Globe and other publications. He is author of Stem Cell Research: A Toolkit for Clergy Education and Advocacy and lead author of When a Woman Makes a Choice: A Curriculum for Clinical Pastoral Education, both through Family Planning Advocates of New York State. His contribution to the LifeLights series of Jewish Lights Publishing is "Abortion and Judaism: Rabbinic Opinion and Jewish Law."

Rabbi Ross travels regularly to speak on the relationship between spirituality, stem cell research, reproductive health, end-of-life issues, separation of Church and State, and Jewish medical ethics.
